Principal (Pre-K to Grade 8) RESPONSIBLE

TYPE: This is a bi-annually contracted volunteer position (non-salaried) NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: The IFN Sunday
School Principal serves as an Islamic
educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and
procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe traditional
Islamic learning environment that meet the approved curricula and mission of
the IFN Sunday School. Achieving academic excellence requires that the
principal work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the
school teaching and administrative staff and to communicate effectively with
parents. Inherent in the position are
the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities,
personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations. The IFN Sunday
School Principal is responsible for the success of the school by carrying out
its vision and fulfilling its mission. The principal provides Islamic
educational and administrative leadership to the school. The principal is
responsible for directing all phases of the school’s operations, programs,
finances, personnel, and environment in accordance with the direction and
policies set forth by the IFN Education Committee and IFN Executive
Committee. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1.
At least three years of teaching and Islamic school
leadership experience 2.
A minimum of college degree with certificate or
experience in educational administration; or a Master’s degree or higher
(Master’s in Education Preferable) 3.
Certification/Degree in Islamic Education (Aalim) preferred BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The job description and responsibilities
of the IFN Sunday School Principal include, but are not limited to the
following: 1.
Establish and promote high standards and expectations
for all students and staff for Islamic academic performance and
responsibility for behavior. 2.
Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear
procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with
the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school including
instructional programs, extracurricular activities, and discipline systems to
ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation,
personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with IFN Education
Committee policies and regulations. 3.
Establish the annual master schedule for
instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students
consistent with the school’s philosophy, mission statement and instructional
goals. 4.
Supervise the instructional programs of the school,
evaluating lesson plans and observing classes (teaching, as duties allow) on
a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies
and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and
development. 5.
Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of
instructional materials, approving all recommendations. 6.
Keep the Education Committee advised of teachers or
staff not meeting their commitment. 7.
Keep the teachers and staff informed and seek ideas
for the improvement of the school.
Conduct meetings, as necessary, for the proper functioning of the
school: monthly teacher/ administrative staff meetings. 8.
Attend scheduled Education Committee meetings. 9.
Provide a centralized handouts for each subjects to
teachers at all grade levels. Organize a resource center/library for the
teachers. 10. Complete
in a timely fashion all records and reports as requested by the Education
Committee. 11. In
collaboration with school Registrar and school budget lead maintain and
account for all money collected from students and school expenditure. 12. Communicate
with the Education Committee regularly about the needs, successes and general
operation of the school. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Communications
and Relationships: Principals need to have a high level of
interpersonal and communication skills. The job demands the ability to handle
complex human relationships effectively and positively. Professional reading
and training particularly in communication are recommended. In a very real
sense principals are community educators. This can involve translating ideas
and information into a language and concepts that can be understood and
accepted by everyone. The manner in which new information and ideas are
presented strongly influences their acceptance. Vision and ideas need to be
articulated clearly. It's also important that principal actively listen to
the ideas of others whose experience of life and work may be different. Managing
Staff: The principal shall ensure that all staff and volunteers
maintain proper standards of Muslim integrity, Islamic conduct and genuine
concern for the public interest and the wellbeing of students attending the
